Frequently asked questions
Everything parents ask about our creative classes for kids ages 5–10. Search or browse by category.
Enrollment
How does enrollment work?
Reserve your child's spot online. Choose a cohort (Little or Rising) and a semester. You'll receive a welcome email with your first-day details.
Can my child join anytime?
We accept mid-semester enrollments when a pod has space. New scouts receive a buddy check-in and a catch-up plan so they feel welcomed.
What if they've never taken art before?
Perfect. Every child begins at Journey One, which assumes no prior art or maker experience.
Program
What makes Luminaries different?
We're a premium creative learning studio — not a daycare, not a single-medium art class. We blend art, design, STEAM, problem solving, and hands-on making into a spiral three-journey curriculum.
What do children actually make?
Real projects: prints, fiber pieces, cardboard architecture, stop-motion films, natural-dye textiles, Wunder Mix small-batch goods, and capstone exhibition work.
How are age groups organized?
Little Luminaries (ages 5–7) and Rising Luminaries (ages 8–10) meet in separate cohorts. Each cohort has its own three-journey creative arc.
Do children move through different levels?
Yes. Each cohort has three journeys — Journey One (foundations), Journey Two (independence), Journey Three (leadership) — before children graduate into the next cohort.
Logistics
What should they bring?
A water bottle and their Field Guide. Play clothes are best. Closed-toe shoes on tool days. We provide smocks and all studio materials.
How do day camps work?
Full-day creative camps run 9 AM – 3 PM during school breaks. Ages 5–7 and 8–10 in separate cohorts. Full week or select days available.
Do parents stay?
Luminaries is a drop-off experience. Parents can observe the first 10 minutes of a Discovery Day; regular sessions are designed for independent peer learning.
