Curriculum
A creative curriculum built to grow with your child
Six progressive stages that develop art, design, STEAM, problem solving, and leadership — repeated in a spiral each journey so every child returns to familiar ideas with greater complexity and independence.
The six stages
Each stage repeats in a spiral across three journeys per cohort — Little Luminaries (5–7) and Rising Luminaries (8–10) — with fresh projects each Fall and Spring semester.
- Stage 1
Foundations
Looking, drawing, color, pattern, and composition. Children build the eyes and hands of a maker.
- Stage 2
Applied Arts
Printing, fiber, clay, natural dye, and mixed media. Children translate ideas into finished objects.
- Stage 3
Creative Problem Solving
Design briefs with real constraints. Children observe, sketch, prototype, and iterate.
- Stage 4
Entrepreneurship
The Wunder Mix enterprise. Children design, produce, and sell small-batch goods at the Luminaries Market.
- Stage 5
Leadership
Mentoring newer pod-mates, running rituals, and stewarding the studio and tools.
- Stage 6
Capstone Exhibition
A public showcase night where every child presents their semester of work to family and community.
The three-journey arc
Each cohort progresses across three journeys. Journey One builds tools and confidence. Journey Two grows independence and collaboration. Journey Three develops leadership and prepares children to graduate into the next cohort.
Fall and Spring semesters share the same core learning outcomes but feature different studio projects, themes, materials, and field missions — so a child can start any semester and keep growing.
See it in action
Discovery Days are the best way to preview the curriculum — kids try a hands-on lab before you enroll.
